Default deciding to get a s55 amg

hey im new to the forum and i was wondering what you guys think of the 2003 s55 amg.i currently have a 2006 clk350 and a 2005 porsche boxster.i am deciding to get a s55 amg in the next 2months,and i will sell my boxster in the spring.I was looking for a bigger car then my boxster but i still wanted it to be fast.Whats the 0-60 on a s55 amg is it faster then my boxster?and how does the maintance go?is it the same as my clk 350 ,service A ,B,? and do amg have more reliable engines?

I recently sold my 2000 S500 and bought a 2003 S55. I continue to be impressed by the competence of the car. There are some tricks to driving it. First, you need to learn that if you get into the throttle while changing lanes on the freeway, you'll probably hit the car in front of you. The S55 accelerates at an astounding rate. I have other cars that i consider to be fairly fast, like a 2006 GTO and a 2003 Ford Lightning. BUt the S55 is a different realm. They did consider the horsepower when they designed the brakes, because the brakes are equal to the acceleration. The enines are hand built and signed by the builder. I don't think there will be any reliability problems with the powertrain. 0-60 is stated at about 4.6 seconds. Is it faster than a Boxster? Well, I like the looks of 'em and would not mind owning one, so bring yours by and we'll run for pinks. The maintenance will be similar to any Benz. I bought a good extended warranty for mine and was pleased at the pricing, which was not significantly higher than a standard S class. The warranty company (Mercury Casualty) won't write an S600.

I've had it over a month now and I still love the car. The cars were available with several options. Mine has the active seats, which I like. It does not have Distronic, because I am unwilling to drive at the pace of the car in front of me. Mine does not have keyless go, because I did not want the added complexity and potential problems. The one thing I wish I had been on the car was the electric trunk closer.

I have had my 2003 S55 for about 6 months. There is nothing I can imagine that would make me happier with this purchase. The maintenance plan is the same as your car (i.e. Service A & Service B). Mine has Distronic, Parktronic, Power rear seats, and 4-zone climate control. I have yet to have any problems. I am noticing that I seem to go through tires, though. I just replaced my rears, to the tune of $777. Maybe I should lighten up the right foot...

I had a 1988 Porsche 930 for a couple years. My S55 is considerably faster. You won't even remember your Boxster in a couple months.

Best wishes with your purchase, and remember to drive it like you stole it.

My personal best is 3.85 and 3.95 secs. I have some mods on the car however. Green performance filters, Magnecor Wires, Denso Iridium plugs, and an ECU tune. I have done a few 0-60 passes in the low 4 sec range in stock form however.

Just bought one today and in love with it. It was this or a LS460. I got an 05 S55 without the distronic and phone, but everything else. Its one awsome car so far. I got with a Starmark Warranty and If I wanted to add 1 more year ontop of the 1yr Starmark it would cost me $1995 which I hated to pass. So now I have a car with 5 yr and 100K miles warranty which I think should be enough for now. Get this car and you wont regret it. I got this a Walters Benz in Riverside and have not regrets. Just trying to figure out how to get the displayto come up on the DVD...
