Mercedes Benz has always been excellent at the wolf in sheeps clothing the 6.9, the 500E of W124 years, S and SL 600's, the E55 being a continuation of the superior speed, comfort, style and tradition that is Mercedes Benz

Default RE: AMG E55's - why this car?

heres one for you, i own a 98 540is 6 speed, a slew of 911 turbo's, and yesterday bought my second clk55 208 chasis, yet i have never driven one. i got the first one via a settlement from an estate as i loaned a guy money, he bought it when it got hit in the passengar front tire, so i am just finishing the car off and was in the mad hunt looking for an amg front passengar seat and ended up buying a whole car same year...that got hit in the front. becuase i had some extra parts and it will be an easy fix, i got it an may end up putting my 80 year old mother in it. why an amg, one of the best cars i ever owned, an 85 190 2.3 16v manual, put 150k on it as i bought it used, sold it for fear of high mileage and $ fixing, went out an bought another, did the same thing again so i had 3. unbelievable cars, lacked the technology of computers that the M3 evolved to so i went to bmw and fell into the porsches. so, my girlfriend won't drive a manual, so for $5k i picked up the first 55 and put another 8k into it. pure and simple, the technology that produces a solid everyday driver with great looks, reliability and something that is different from the rest. personally, i like manuals or a paddle shifter, and don't care for the 209 chasis as i think mercedes did the same thing porsche did with the 996, to round and not enough hard lines. great past experiences with amg technology, great performance, so i will see how it has evolved as i did want an M5 but am in to the cars for little money, they both have under 50k mileage so i can run them for a few years.....and move up to a 63.
