I just purchased my first MB...is a step up from my BMW Z4.. I got myself the CL55 03, I luv the car, just a couple of things Im not used to that I took to the dealer and they said was normal:

1. Loud engine noise sounds like a diesel truck almost clattering like. Normal??
2. Rapid wear of back tires, I'm not taking off all the time, anyone one know how much mileage I'm suppose to get out of the tires?
3. Small whistle like noise when taking off, turbo?

Any help or tips you guys can provide will be much appreciated...

 

Hey...congrats!!!

I just bought one of the marvelous machines myself this past Friday, Jan 4th. Mine has 29,000 miles on it and new tires, so I can't comment on tire ware.

I don't believe I have either the clattering noise or the start off whistle. There IS definately a "rumble" when the car starts. I attribute that to the AMG engine.

I have a clk 500, need new tires every 12k. thats one thing about the stag tire set, you can rotate the tires are all.

As far as for the Noise, I got my car new and heard the noise the first time I left the showroom. Went to the dealer and told me " That noise is normal, If you don't hear that Clicking sound then come right back to us". Same thing on my brother 03 e500, Its a benz thing i guess

 

I meant you can not rotate the tires at all my back
