shifter light bulb replacement
I just did the shifter bulb on my '95 E420 a couple of days ago. Here's how:
MAIN thing to know is you have to get a wrench down there to loosen shifter retaining nut. Once you know this, everything else is cake.
Start: Top bezel (black plastic) - has two clips - top and top left - pry lose and pull up. Can't remove yet - shifter **** prevents this. Nex, jiggle the hard plastic module up and to the left - you're just trying to get it out of the way. Pull boot up - see the nut?
Put shifter into neutral - nothing to do with the transmission - better access to the nut with shifter straight up.
Loosen nut, remove shifter, thereby allowing top bezel and hard plastic assemby to be removed.
You'll now see the light. Easy, common sense to finish.
You can get replacement bulb almost anywhere - I got 'em at Advance Auto.
