Try turning your car on and off and it may reset. Or turn your steering wheel all the way left and then all the way right to reset (or maybe it's all the way right and then left...)

Go to a reputable garage (not a dealership) recomend using Merc Members Club.
Ask to change the brake switch, tel them the problem, they will know exactly what the switch is for, mine has been going for the past couple of years now, if you leave it to long it will effect your transmission.
