If anyone here was wondering y Sleepwalker always asks for the Vin of ur car when u ask a maintainence questions its cause he has a computer program that lets him know every option that ur car has and it lets him know if something has changed mid-model year that just giving year and model can not tell.

 

I always thought he wanted it so he could confiscated and chop it for parts and sell them overseas at hugh profits???


Only kidding. Sleepwalker works for MB in China and he knows his stuff. My 79 450SLC has three different cruise control system that could have been installed, on cars headed for the USA back then. Without the VIN, I would be hard pressed to ID the correct part for the system in my car.

No, I am kidding too-don't want to mislead anyone. Sleepwalker is A-OK in my book, and if he wants your vin #, it's because he wants his answer to be as helpful as possible.

 

well, i can always make a key from that VIN from my key programmer, walk to the car and drive it.

but am not going to do that.

anyway, it tells me a lot about the car, and i don't need to guess which leads to mistake.
