Default W220 - electric disaster

Hi Guys!

I have been offered a 2002 or 2003 model W220, V8, gas, that has had a jump-start-booster connected in reverse (+ to -, and - to +), and obviously this has fried some electric parts. Now, I am a bit of a "everything-can-be-fixed-type-of-a-guy", so I am thinking about buying it. The price is less than half of what they sell for here in Denmark, and as the Danish registration tax alone, for a car like the W220 is about the double of what a similar car will sell for in our neighbor country, Germany.. it will be within budget, to get a complete donor car from there.

Now, I never owned a Mercedes before, but I do know that they have LOADS of sensors, control units and other electronic units installed throughout the car.. so optimistic as I am, I am now asking for some general expert advise... in short:

Is this a bad idea, or (compared to the end result, and with the paid registration tax in mind), would this be an "easy fix"

I know this electric screw-up is not a situation seen every day, but I hope someone inhere may have useful knowledge, and want to share!

Thanks in advance !

Kasper

first thing to check is the fuse block under the passneger foot area. pull back the carpet, pull out the metal floor at the back of the floor with 3 10mm plastic nuts. then youll see a large prefuse junction with large wires attached to it, that usually blows and needs to be replaced. the fuses in there are supposed to be not replaceable. youll need to buy a new one.
