Hi everyone,

I just joined this forum. I am quite impressed and so glad to join . Own a 1997 E320 with 83K miles. Got two problems with my car:

1) BRAKING: On rough roads, I feel an annoying vibration underneath the brake pedal when I apply the brake. I have replaced all rotors and pads (front and rear) with genuine mercedes parts, but the problem still persists. In addition, I also suffer from the good old steering whell vibration between 55 and 65 MPH. These two problems may be related. Does anyone have any opinion or suggestion on this for me?

2) TRANSMISSION: When the engine is cold, the first and second gear do not engage unless I rev the rpm high to about 3000 for the thrid shift (for example). But once the car is warmed up, the problem goes away. Any ideas or suggestions on this one?

I appreciate any input that may save me a couple of thousand dollars by going to a dealer. Thanks a great deal.

 

I have the same problem with my 97 e320 on the transmission......... changed the fluids and its much better now altho not perfect.... if you have an answer, pls email me

if you brake hard on the rough road, the ABS will function and you will feel that the brake pedal is vibrating due to build up and release of pressure on the hydraulic unit.

i know in vanuatu you may have plenty of rough roads.

the steering wheel vibration might only be the cause of wheel balancing problem.
check the steering shock absorber if it is leaking oil.

when the engine is cold, the shift is normally delayed to heat up the catalyst.
