Default V8 swap

I have heard of people installing American V8's in Volvos and I have seen one in a BMW 3 series. Does anyone know if this has ever been done to a 190?

Yeah its been done before.

Heres a 560 series engine in a 190.

For more info...go here. http://www.geocities.com/shvoldum/main.html

A 4.2 V8 (M119) has been fitted into a 190 before. 380SL engine will fit as well as a early SL500 engine. Even American engines have been swapped in like Ford & Chevy small blocks. Lots of work required.

Heres a pic of a small block Chevy engine in a 190.

Also, theres a guy who swapped in a Ford V8 in a 190. He used a corvette/viper rear end.

Lots of work required and your going to have to worry about the weight up front. So you'll have to install springs from maybe a 190E 2.6 or maybe a 400E.

I figured I would have to upgrade the springs. I wonder if the diff and rear axles could take around 300 hp...My engine/trans is a 283(305ho heads, q-jet, cam, 9.5:1) and the trans will be a T5 or T56 (if I can find and affordable one).

Depending on what type of differential and rear axle you have. If you have one from a 2.3 16V, 2.6, Evo I, or Evo II, then you should be fine. The 2.3 8v rear end wont be able to take that much hp.
