Default RE: transmission fluid

Hey Rocksolid, Whne you said that MB sells the fluid and dipstick what do you mean by that ? Is the dipstick a one time use only ? I have a 2001 SLK 350 and I know there is no dipstick to check the transmission but where would I even put the dipstick into if I purchased one ? I know I need at least 7-8 quarts of fluid for the transmisson. I have the filter and gasket for the transmission pan but not sure about the filling and checking part. I thought about measuring the amount of oil coming out of the transmission and putting the same amount in (cannot go wrong with that, I guess) but where do I fill it if there is no hole ?

My dealer charged me under $175 for the job. NO WAY am I doing it myself in a garage with no rack and the tools to flush the system and replace the fluid properly. Think about it before you ruin your car man!

I have changed many transmission filter but just not a MB. Dropping the pan and emptying the torque converter is easy. Just need to figure out how to fill and check the system.

Enjoy. I am certified for Alfa Romeo and Subaru and I would rather wait for the car in the waiting room.
