trans is slow to engage when started.
 

posted in diesel discussions with no real help. my 83 83 300d is slow to engage in reverse or forward. It takes about 5 seconds when first started. trans has been serviced, this has been going on for about a year now. otherwise I've had no other problem with its driveability. This is my daughters' car and I have another trans for it but am hoping that this oon may be easily repairable while still in the vehicle.such as a valve body problem. has anyone run across the cause of this. I've read up on here , it seems pretty common but have never seen a reply which was said to have fixed the problem. thanks if you can help.
