Tranny Swap? 300sd Cali
 

I am new to the forum and looking for some tech advice. I have a 1985 sd that needs the tranny rebuilt. Tranny was last done by Mbz dealer in 1996@150,000 and I currently have 295,500.

I have a bead on a 1982 300sd Federal that the tranny was rebuilt by a shop here in St.Louis for $400.00:)
My question is can I swap the tranny and if so what do I need ? I would like to get the federal tranny because of being stronger then the 722.416 Cali .

I would appreciate any help you guys can offer.

Thanks for your help, I will confirm again the WOT and cable tightens and check for MOD valve.
What about the shift kit??

Another issue I am having is at times if I stop on a incline (hill) at a light the Benz just barely moves, and other times not. This past spring at start up say 45 deg car just sits NO movement untill temps are 65-70 on gauge. I suspect an Oring on the pump...:rolleyes:
I also replace kick down switch but nothing has changed.
I am planning to change the center support bearing,tranny mount and the bearings for shaft and the flex joints ( rear has small tear) and then do a the CVCs.
Any input would again be very much appreciated :D

Hi Forced induction....I have an 83 SD with 174K on it, I am second owner. I am interested in Water injection and the intake/turbo setup you have. Might I ask where you get your parts/ideas/tech help?

ForcedInduction, I read somewhere about you updating seats in your 300. What is/was brand/model? I want to upgrade my 83 300sd drivers seat. thanks.

Thank You for the diagram & explanation. I believe the pressure at the Mod valve should be 42-44 psi :rolleyes:Correct...

And do you know the metric threads on the taps so I can hook up my gauge ?

BTY went to start the car and the glow plug relay blew the fuse and the top side of the box melted. Have replacement on the way you gotta love eBay.:D
