Hi,
You don't state what model/year your car is. I assume however that it is a w220 S Class like your avtar.
Your problem has nothing to do with the wheels fitted to your car.
The height of your car is measured by a device fitted to the suspension struts. This device determines where within the given limits the suspension is and doesn't know if you fit different wheels.
The suspension on your car is adjusted by air from a pump housed in the front RH wheelarch. You can sometimes hear this running.
If the car is left without running for a while the air leaks out of the system and it takes a while (a minute or so) for the system to recover. This time can be longer than the time you usually take before moving off. hence the warning.
A SMALL leak in the system is quite normal and is due to normal manufacturing tolerances on the parts.
If the warning only occurs infrequently after standing for a few days just forget about it and wait the few moments before setting off.
However if the problem is persistent then that is a different matter. You need to determine where the leak is. This can be a very expensive problem to correct (The suspension struts are serious money!)

The wheel change SHOULD have nothing to do with the problem UNLESS you damaged the level sensor when you changed the wheel. Highly UNLIKELY.

Have you tried using the Raise Ride Height switch on the dash (Red light ON). This should make the pump work. You should be able to hear it under the front RH wheelarch.

If the pump is not working i.e. the suspension height doesn't correct itself after a few minutes then I suspect the fuse has gone to the pump or worse.

Not exactly sure which the pump fuse is but likely under the hood in one of the black boxes towards the rear. The fuse chart was published on this forum about two weeks ago
should you not have your own copy in the tool kit.

Maybe extended running of the pump after the wheel change to regain correct height was the final straw for the fuse or the pump.

The chances that it is brain dead is almost ZERO.

Have you actually CAREFULLY driven the car in a straight line for a few hundred yards. This sometimes seems to help clear the problem. Don't proceed if there are any untoward noise from the tyres rubbing. There shouldn't be.

Usually you get ABS etc light on if the ride height is incorrect.

Suggest there is something more to this fault than you have currently advised. I assume both sets of wheels were standard OE. 18" and 16" wheels are almost exactly the same overall size (other wise the speedo would be incorrect!) Maybe you have some NON STANDARD wheels which have damaged the height sensors. Unlikely however.

Stuart.
