Default Steering problem

When I turn the steering wheel to the right, I would hear a "clunk" which seems to come from the left side of the car, near the left, front wheel. This happens when I start off from stationary. Sometimes at low speeds, just after starting off I would hear the sound too. I will hear it once, after moving off, and never at igher speeds.

Also on steering, I can hear slight "tinkling" sound when I turn the wheel. It is like iron filings dropping onto a metal plate. Soft but distinct.

Is something broken, or about to break? Is it expensive to repair?
