My 1984 Mercedeses 380SL has a strange problem, at times it does not want to start and when it does the RPM will fluctuates between 1500 & 600 RPM this goes on for 15 or 20 seconds and then it settles down to its normal idle. The engine will also stall at times right after driving for a short distance and then slowing down or stopping at a light. It does not seem to matter if the engine is cold or warm. I have put in new plug wires as well as distributor cap & rotor. The fuel pump relay is also new. I would sure appreciate it if someone coluld shed some light on this problem and direct me as to what should be done to remedy it. Thank you.
