several issues with 06 C230...
 

I have several issues if anyone can help me with before I go to the dealer to get it fixed...I have a 2006 C230 sport with roughly 104,000 miles...

1. Every time I step on the gas......i hear a ringing / pinging noise. The noise is very faint and it only happens after the 1st-3rd gear and it goes away... it only happens once in a while but it has been constant recently.

2. My car engine has a ticking noise... i know it has a lot of miles but my engine doesn't seem like it has the umph! anymore. Its pretty loud that both of my brothers noticed it. Back in February, I went on vacation for a week and when I got back and turned it on, a slight smoke started to come out of the hood but my engine temperature was normal. The smoke stopped but you can smell it when you open the hood. I took it to a mechanic and he said my engine was perfectly fine but I know its not.

Pinging could be wrong gas. My 560SL uses only hightest. I would check real close for a leak, maybe a broken vacumn hose. Smoke comes from something. A leak in the intake manifold area could account for the lose of power.

you need to be putting premium gas in that car...but definitely dont use 87. if you using good gas then maybe you need a tune up. i think that engine is due for a tune up at 60k.
