Replacing bulb in fog light
ok, i've looked and can't seem to find my answer.
how easy (or hard) is it to change the bulb in the left front fog light? i could let the dealer do it,
however, i like to do some of the work myself. i am not very mechanically inclined.
thanks for all your help in advance.

According to the model and year, and if the fog or driving light is built into the headlight unit, it can be easy or if can be not so easy. An important part to remember, note how the bulb comes out, as there are nibs on them, my 99 C280 uses H1's and you have to place the nibs back in the same postion they came out.
I didn't look at the nib on the fogs on my 450SLC. this car has fog light mounted below the bumper and takes H4 bulbs. What a job I had lining the nibs up.

It's generally easy, but you generally need strong hands. Expect to scrape a knuckle or two and get your clothes dirty--you may need to jack it up and crawl underneath. I can change mine without removing the front tire, but it's easier if I do because the tire is kinda in the way. You may be able to just turn the wheel without removing it to get it out of the way.
If yours can be accessed from above (as C280 wizard explained), that would be much easier than having to crawl underneath and behind the bumper, obviously. However, fog lights are always under the bumper. Driving lights are above and may be integrated into the headlight assembly.
Mine has an outer cover that, when removed, allows access to the bulb (bayonet type, i.e., push bulb in and turn to remove or install).
If you use halogen bulbs, DO NOT touch the glass part of the bulb. Use rubber gloves or a paper towel against the glass part. Touching them will significantly reduce their life--they may only light once and then be burned out.
