replaced part and still will not reset light

I have replaced the "socket" brake light bulb holder and now the brake light is working but the brake light notification in the dash is still on telling me that the light bulb is burned out. I changed the socket because there was black where it had gotton wet or shorted out and it fixed the problem but the light in the instrument cluster is still lighting up telling me that there is a problem when there is not one. HOW DO I RESET THIS LIGHT? HELP PLEASE? THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY?

RE: replaced part and still will not reset light

This warning light does not need to be reset.
The warning system (PSE unit) is sensing that there is still a problem.
It is likely that the water damage around the bulb holder is causing the problem.
SLK, E and other Class veh circa 2000 m/y were recalled in the USA due to a problem with the bulb holders melting due to xcess temp.. This is not the case in other countries although the problem exists there also.

Hope this helps.
Model / Mileage / etc.

RE: replaced part and still will not reset light

I replaced the bulbs and the entire sock assembly that all of the bulbs plug into and now all of the bulbs are working, how can I get the dashboard light bulb to go off? It went off for a little while after i changed all of the parts and them it came back on again. i also changed the oil and serviced all of the things that are serviced in a "B" service. HOW DO I RESET THIS "B" SERVICE LIGHT IN MY DASH? Thanks for your help

RE: replaced part and still will not reset light

Sure you have usedthe correct wattage bulb.
Have you pressedthe C (cancel) button on the dash...dependent upon model.

Stuart.
