Removing hood grill where washer nozzles are located

I'd love some advice here. I need to check the hose-to-washer nozzle on my '04 CLK. I have located three screws under the hood, but there's still something holding the grill in. Any ideas? There's some sort of button right in the middle of the grill that appears to have some movement to it, but I'm hesitant to push too hard, fearing that it might be some sort of sensor and not an attaching piece at all. There are no additinoal access points under the hood for this grill, even under the padding.

TIA for any suggestions. Otherwise, I'll wait for the dealer to help with what should be a pretty simple fix.

that button you see on the hoodd is the sunlite sensor. there are clips to push down to remove that grille piece up and out. i sent you a pic of the grille.

Thanks so much. Stupid questions coming: I assume there are clips on either side of the hood; and I assume I still have to remove the three screws that I can see, yes?

Thanks again.

yes remove screws , there is a clip onboth sides, use a pocket screw driver for the clips, the grille will pop out the top. push up on the grille to remove out of hood.

I realize this post is old as the hills. I am trying to remove the hood grill on my 2008 CLK350 and having a miserable time locating the clips. This post sounds like it might help but I am unable to find the photo. I am new to this forum and may just be looking in the wrong place. Anyway...if you would resend/ reattach or send me in the right direction I will be very grateful.

Hello Chassis221

Please excuse my ignorance, forums are relatively new to me.

Are you please able to post or reply with the helpful info on removing C209 CLK bonnet intake screen?

Wish to minimise damage as I prep my merc bonnet for painter tomorrow, unscrupulous person threw brake fluid or the like on my bonnet, thankfully didn't get to any other panels.

Thank you

KiwiCuda, (Jon).

Hi guys
hoping for a hand on this one please. My windscreen washer grill definitely only has 2 screws. 1 each end. Don’t want to yank it and break something. Where are the clips located please?
cheers
wayne
