Default Reliability of 1997 SL 320

I have had my first MB for about 2 weeks now, and put 1,000 miles on it.........runs great...........VERY nice car. It has 35,000 miles on it. I just ordered the DVD service manual for the car, this week.........should get it sometime next week.

The car will be my everyday car, during the off-snow seasons.

I registered the car with MB, when I ordered the DVD. They had to do some searching, to see if all the recalls where done. I guess that they will contact me, if so.

What are the major problem areas with this car, if any? This would include engine, trans, suspension, etc. "Sleepwalker" gave some advice, but this seems to be recall related.........thanks sleepwalker.

Thanks.

i have posted before the same thing henryk, maybe you can find it in this forum (if not deleted with other 52 posts i got before)

service measure:

*brake assist system
if there is a "D" marking on your diaphragm travel sensor (on the brake booster) and control module (under the brake booster) means it's okay and has been replaced.

** resoldering of cable strands in special equipment block.
defective part number is:
129 540 62 07

manufacture date:
22.06, 11.07.98

a blue dot on part number sheet strip means it's done.

*** airbag mount in steering wheel.
tighten that 4 screws holding the airbag.
