Please inform about removing the gas tank of a 1976 450SL. I am working on this car in the street and across the city from my home. Since I live in a condo I cant work on it for this type of repair at home (HOA######).Even though this far from anIdeal situation right now, I didnt want to pass on obtaining this car. The Car has the hard top on it right now. I want to remove the fuel tank to have it cleaned out before attempting any further diagnosis on why no fuel is going to the engine. I just bought it and it has not beenrun for 6 years. I have removed the hoses and the 4 bolts you can access from the trunk. What else keeps the tank from coming out? Do I need to remove the hard top and raise the convertible top to access anything from the convertible top well? I have seperated the braided hose from the fuel pump but have not removed it from the tank.a proceedure to remove the tank would be apreciated. PS the old gas was still clear no sign of debrisbut obviously old so I am removing the tank to eliminate anything...
