Oil leak

Hi friends! I own a Mercedes benz C180 k sports coupe 2003. Brougt it from g~c~r . When i picked up the vehicle it was dissapointing to say the least. On my way home it displayed reduce engine oil level, the locks were working intermittant, the radio wasnt working(tuning into station) and it had an engine oil leak! Returned the car, they drained some oil and said the leak was spilt oil! And the car would have to retun for the other defects. Got the car home and found it was still leaking oil (surpise surprise). Returned the car asap and then told the sump was leaking (at the sealent). Left the car with them numerous days later then told the timing chain cover was leeaking. Numerous days later again recieved the car back and told the vehicle would have to return to go to mercedes to sort the locks out and radio. After a short journey the vehicle again was leaking oil! Returned the vehicle, now told the cam cover was leaking! Left the vehicle again. Numerous days later vehicle returned locks working radio working great, no, the car again is leaking oil underneath and found rear in vehicle panels damaged due to g~~c~r fitting parts. Im not taking the vehicle bck as it gets worse everytime they touch the car! Has anyone got any idea what this oil leak could be or had the same problem? Ive owned this car for a month and drove it for 4 days! Thanks

RE: Oil leak

Madlions,

I'm so sorry you are having problems with your MB. You never know when someone has taken excellent care of one or just let anyone work on it.

I think you could get a pretty good idea of where the oil is coming from by cleaning the engine (while NOT running) , and then spending some time with a flashlight looking around. Look for wet oily/dirty patches. Or take it to a different shop;have them SHOW you where it is leaking, since your previous efforts have failed.

I know you must be aggravated, but cut the mechanics a little slack, these engines are more complicated than ever. I hate it. Ive been around these cars for twenty years, and every year they do something that sends me completely back to school. But what can you do?

Some people just let things go to crap, but you are obviously more particular, like me. The car is probably making you mad now, but when you get it right, everything will clear-up and you will love it. It's just a matter of un-doing whatever the previous owner has done/not done, in most cases.

I agree there is absolutely NOTHING that a shiny new part cannot fix, the only problem I have is figuring out which one to get.

I curious about your crankcase ventilation pressure. On other engines I've had, clogged emission hoses can cause the engine to blow oil too.

I hope Stuart or Sleepwalker posts, they are very good with these.

Charles
