Occasional starter failure
 

My 2002 C240 would occasionally fail to start.
When I turned the ignition key to position 2, everything would light up except it wouldn’t start. No ignition sound whatsoever.
After several attempts it would, in some cases, start. But after that, upon shutting it down, it would fail to start again.
I don’t have much knowledge about cars. But I’ve checked the battery and fuses and everything seems ok.
Any ideas on whats causing this problem? Thx in advance.
