o-rings in oil filter kit
I bought an oil filter for my 2006 C230 and it comes with 4 o rings. 2 are for the filter itself and looks like 1 is for dipstick, but can figure out what last is for. 2 same size 1 small and last one between - which is one i can't figure out. thanks

the other Orings are for a differnt motor and filter, and there is no o ring for the dipstick its just o rings for another engine that takes the same filter. so you wont use them.

If it is a Bosch or Mann filter, the extra o-rings should always be kept. I know from experience. The extra o-rings all mean something, and usually it is for the oil drain plug + the filter assembly.

I bought this from Mercedes and that's what I figured - they all must go somewhere. I do believe the small one was for the dipstick as it was the same size. I did save it and it's not for the drain plug. thanks for replying.

the other O rings are for a 113 or 112 engine with the long filter housing/holder you dont need them after you replace the ones on your filter. the design of the filter holder has changed but the filter itself is still the same sothat filter willfit other engines and you wont need the other rings.
