No one knows the answer
I have 1991 190 2.6 that currently stalls. It runs great but in the heat or in traffic the motor shuts off and will not restart until i let it cool down. However once the problem begins it will no run right. Sometimes when I drive the car will competely shutt off. I do not use the AC thinking that that can't help my problem. I never had this problem in the winter. I have taken it to 4 machanics with no resolution....can anyone offer any suggestions, when it's running it runs fine......what to do?

behind the battery theres is a OVP relay with 10or 15 amp fuse on top of it inspect that when car cuts of, if its hot if its hot thats way ur problem is,it should not get too too hot it just be reasonable,if thats ok ,check the combination relay its further inside than OVP RLY,its in black with numbers on it and few letters SAYIN 6ZYL this rly control all the air flow metring,it controls the fuel pump idel vavle.the only way to rectifie this is when the carcuts of remove combination rely and bridge trminals 30 AND 87,IT BE COMES A DIRCET FEED,AFTER INSERT OF 30 &87, TRY STARTIG IT,SHOULD FIRE UP........ ITS SHAME THIS DONT HAVE ANY DIGNOSTICS LET MEHW U GET ON ......

RE: No one knows the answer?
Is the temp gauge reading high when the problem occurs or is that just "normal". Coolant level OK? Heater works OK? Mileage? NAZ has suggested a cause for intermittent shut down. I'm just exploring an alternative for the shut down - overheating. Stuart. |
RE: No one knows the answer
Someone has the answer,it's our job to find the question!
vacuum leak on housing below fuel distributor and the throttle body lots of heat down there on a hot day or in heavy traffic, might be expanding a long thin crack in the housing.Check all the vac lines heat can expose a gremlin that will give you fits.Cut off /purge valve checked?and as our friend across the pond brought up,cooling issues, temp sensors, coolant temp sender, vapor lock, look for frayed coverings on any insulated fuel lines wires and vac hoses. Can't think offhand of any more heat related failures on classics like your's before the time of all these modern heat related issues on the newer benz, like Crank position sensors that heat up and stall the car out 20 minutes into a nice drive, cool down fine ,repeat and on!Hey one more thing heat related, aren't all of the climate controls on the 190e controlled by vacuum lines?as opposed to the newer ones with sensors and servos,I'd check for leaks in those lines also, since even with the a/c off the vents and such are still operating. Long shot but if one of those had a massive leak that only came into play when operated it would put a crimp in the cars operation. ohlord I always ask "GOT CODES?" in your case NO |
