My wife drives the same model. It beeps, when you have light on and take the key.
The beep means something for me, but not for wife.
Don't you feel bad, when in the middle of Sunday mass a friend calls you from your bench and says "your lights are on"?

Mystery solved it seems - fortunately my training as a pilot has me complete a checklist when landing and turning off my lights is on the list....
