ML320 1999 Air con problem
 

Hi Folks, I have a problem I'm hoping someone can arm me with some info on before I decide my next course of action.

Recently I took my ML320 to my regular repair man with a complaint that the air con would sometimes work and sometimes not.

In his assesment he told me I needed a new compressor because the old one had a leak. ( I took his word as gospel simply because I was so worried I was looking for any answer to solve my problem. In hindsight, that diagnosis of a leak did not match the symptons because if it was low on refrigerant it wouldn't work at all where as it was working intermitently and when it did work it worked well.

Post replacement the problem still existed so in my very limited understanding of air con processes it would seem my concerns are justified.

Anyway, the next problem to emerge recently is when the air is on it simply blows hot air as if the heater is on even though the switch is clearly on "cool". When I say hot air, I mean hot as in differentiating from blowing ambient air.

If anyone can list some points so I can at least appear educated when I confront the mechanic I would appreciate it.

FYI, it is not a Mercedes service department. I am in a remote area and do not have access to that.
