My Fiancee's 2004 c240's trunk will not open. The red light for the tunk button is always lite, when I try to open the trunk from the back, it makes the noise of opening but fails to open, On the dash there is the warning all the time about the trunk..

I looked in the back seat area to see if there was a way in through there.. Does anyone have an Idea of what to do?

NEver mind, I figured it out..

For information for others..

I used the key that comes out of the normal key you use to start the car and by the tunk handle there is a spot for this metal key.
I counter clockwised turned it and sure enough with a little pressure it opened..

I then greased up the mechanism and she opens just fine now..

 

I have a similar problem on our 2001 C240 - the key fob will not open the trunk - it is only accessable manually with the valet key, sometimes I can hear the sound of the motor trying to open - and sometimes not ... what mechanism did you grease/oil - I'm thinking I should try that before ordering new parts for the trunk. Thanks.
