Anyone know if the install on the ipod integration kit for Gl is as easy as removing glovebox and plugging it into a wire harness tucked back there?

 

Remove radio, remove glovebox. Ipod kit comes with a cable and interface that goes between factory harness and radio. You swap the optic cables from factory connector to the new cable that plugs into the radio. Then there is another cable in the kit that runs from the interface to the glovebox at a knockout hole at the left edge. If you have tele-aid, you don't need to program anything.

 

Do you know what year's this kit applies to and what sound system, ie standard, Bose>

The kit I'm familiar with fits 164 ML and/or X164 GL. 2006 ML and 2007 for the GL. I haven't had the opportunity to install any others. As far as sound system, I'm fairly sure the head units are the same, just some additional sound equipment and head software. Ipod connects the same way to Bose or standard.
