Hello and welcome to the forum! What codes came up when they did their diagnosis? This should tell you where the issue is coming from. Lastly, what model is this in regards to?

The auto mechanic I took it to didn't have proper scope and dealer said repairs start at $800.. I can let it run in drive way for 20 min and it stalls and spins over sometimes but no fire...trying cheapest way to fix myself first.. please help

What is the $800 repair for? Most auto supply stores such as Autozone and O'Reily's will have a shop tool to read codes.

Just to let everyone know I had a good idea it was crank shaft position sensor but couldn't afford Mercedes scope and there 130 an hour labor price.. so I went to Auto Zone and there scope does fit any car 1996 or newer.. they have a loaner program to give you scope.. you only have to givectgem $146 deposit on it which is returned to you. Well it eas CPS after all and they sold it to me for $54 aftermarket verses the 199 dollars Mercedes wanted... it took me 1 hour yo change which i learned on you tube and total cost was 54. Not the $450 quoted... Don't be scared. Oil change is harder
