Default Immobiliser problem

Right now, my Mercedes is useless.
The immobiliser won't detect the fob even 1cm away from the reciever.
The batteries in the fob have been replaced and the fob indicator light is telling me that it is working.
The fuses in the engine bay are ok (23 & 27).
Opening the door using the emergency lock doesn't disable the alarm or immobiliser.
Everything was working fine yesterday.
Can anyone help?

I have a very similar problem, which started after a jump pack was used on the car when it had a flat battery.... Right now I have no lights at all and a jump-start from a good battery won't work since all the Merc electrics are COMPLETELY dead. Please help! I am SURE it is an immobiliser problem since the car worked this morning with the jump pack.
