I have a 1982 280sl RHD 5 speed manual in South Africa. The car's in mint condition except it bothers me that it does not have an electric aerial on the rear left hand flank, as does every other sl of similar era that I have seen in my country and on the net. It has a std wire type aerial on the front right fender.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Were some produced like this?

The car shows no signs that it has had any accident damage to suggest that the original electric aerial was removed with a damaged panel and then a new one added in the front, which I have considered.

I would like to keep the car as original as possible so will get an electric aerial fitted if needs be if it can be proved that then only ever came out with these.
