My father is going to order the new 2006 (9th generation) S-class in the next few weeks and he wants me to hook up his i-pod similar to the way I have mine integrated in my BMW. It is a BMW accessory that is $150 that wires your i-pod to your stereo, chages it and allows you to control the songs with your steering wheel. Does MB make something similar that he can order from the factory or is there any other options??? Thanks for your help.

 

the new s class doesn't have an auxillary input so hooking the ipod will not be possible by using mercedes parts- cool new feature about the new s class is you can download all your music on a memory card and install it in the command.

 

More information please. Is this an option or a standard feature? What type of card is this? Like a USB insert or a photo card or what? Do I need some new PC software for it or how will it work???

 

i'm pretty sure it's an mp3 card- about 70 dollars at an electronics store- from my understanding it is a standard feature.

 

Sweet man. Thanks for the update. I also heard from someone that there is an AUX input that is a standard feature that is located in the glove box. How true is this??

 

i can't recall if there was an auxillary jack in the glovebox or not. i can let you know tommorow.

i looked in the glovebox this morning and there is not an auxillary input jack. looked to see what electronics can be installed at this time
and the only thing shown is for the mercedes phone kit. i didn't think the s class had the aux. input- they didn't in the 220- old s class or the cl or the sl.

 

Thanks I spoke with the dealer where he is ordering it from and it is coming with a chip that you can place a ton of songs on and then it will play the MP3s
