Hello, Please help. A guy has a 2003 MB C230 Kompressor sedan , 80,000 miles. He said engine light came on and he drove it 7 miles further. Later that night it would not start. He towed it to MB dealer that told him it was a head gasket. He has no documentation from dealer. Now couple months later car is for sale... the battery is dead and all I can tell is that there is milky condensation inside the fill cap. Car has been smoked in...burn hole in drivers seat... No owners booklets but overall car is in ok condition, curb rash on rims..Question: What are the chances that it is just a head gasket; and how likely is it that the head is damaged beyond repair?? Question: IF it is likely not the head gasket then what might it be..? Is this a vehicle to stay away from?? It is really not to bad excepting for the unknowns?? How or what should I dig deeper into??
Any help is appreciated. I am a long time backyard mechanic with foreign experience. I can put it in my driveway as is for maybe 4500.
