having trouble finding something

We can't find the hood release on a 1973 450sel mercedes

we have looked EVERYWHERE and can't find a button, switch, or lever... or even a place that looks like it used to have one there. and one of the three people who have individually tried to find it the lever for it is very into cars, which makes it even more strange...
