Hi</P>
Had to come all the way to the states tofind the answer tothis question...Mercedes seems less than helpful to Individuals servicing their cars.</P>
Where is the Fuel filter located on a 1999 SLK, any tips to changing it?</P>
Is there a pollen filter on same car? if so where and again any tips on changing it?</P>
Thanks in advance</P>

I have a '97E320, have owned it for3 years and haven't found the fuel filter, pollen filter or the activated charcoal filter that Mercedes has tried to get me to replace everytime I've taken it in for service past 60,000. Any help out there? <edited><editID>Paul</editID><editDate>37987.1269212963</editDate></edited>
Sound likeeasy questions to answer. I wish I knew. I'll pop it backto thetop for you.</P>
I can't help wondering, though, what you're doing in Afghanistan with an SLK, and what is a MB dealership doing in Afghanistan? You're obviously not a native. Does your SLKsport any bullet holes? Are you armed and dangerous? Did the USA bomb everything but the MB dealership?</P><edited><editID>Lugnut</editID><editDate>37992.2940393519</editDate></edited>
Err sorry not sure how I ended up with my profile showing me as from Afgahnistan!!!!! Actually from the UK, just north of London.</P>
Well I found the activated charcoal/pollen filter...its one and the same. In the SLK its behind the glovebox. Just remove the panel underneath the glove box (its easy 2 screws) and you will see some ducting, in the middle there is the filter, which can be accessed by sliding 2 clips allowing the cover and the filter to drop out of its housing, just remember which way round it went for the replacement!! Takes about 10 minutes to do and is a piece of cake......Now that fuel filter anyone???</P>

Anyone got any ideas/experience with these clips??</SPAN></FONT></SPAN></DIV>
the clips are reusable but only with special tool available though high end tool </P>
dealers take a pair of side cutters (dykes or wire cutters and remove the clips replace them with regular screw type clamps u will need 3 or 4 of them available at the local hardware store</P>
