Flashing Low Fuel Level Light and Check Engine Light
I have a 1999 SL500 where I've been having a problem with a flashing low level fuel indicator light. I checked here and read about replacing the gas cap. So I went to the dealership and puchased the OEM gas cap and subsequently replaced it on the car. Problem is still present. It only does it when the car is running and when I come to a complete stop. If I turn the key off and restart the car, it goes away until I come to another stop. Of course I have a CEL from it. I'm not going to take it to the dealership as they will just jerk me around and rape me on the bill. I'd rather take it to a friend of mine who owns a specialty shop. I atleast trust him. Any ideas on this?
Oh and I also have a SRS light that goes on and off for the passenger airbag. Any ideas on this as well? Thanks. Scott |
RE: Flashing Low Fuel Level Light and Check Engine Light
Maybe it can be the same fuse which have bad contact. Try the easy first .
The fuel light , try with a 2 dl 2t oil in tank. Maybe it can be the fuel meeter which hanging Good luck |

Scott Now, back the 1 problem, the flashing fuel low/icon...the book tells you it indicates a low pressure in the fuel supply. This is either caused by a leak in the line(s), the gas cap which you took care of, and in my case, a loose vaccuum line that was discovered up by the driver's side headlamp. But again, with three things going on, my experience has been that these problems can overlap back to 1 or 2 root causes, which when found, fixes all. Get a scantool on that bad boy to determine what's really going on. Bob |
Leak in the Evap system
Common culprits are hoses or the fuel cap https://autolablibertyville.com/chec...-engine-light/ |
