Electrical Problems w/ 89 420SEL
I have an '89 420SEL. Was running ok, until i tried to use it to jump another vehicle that was having serious electrical / battery problems. Now I'm losing juice from the batter when the vehicle sits.
It will charge, and the alternator is putting out plenty of juice, and the car runs fine, but again...if it sits for a couple of days after being fully charged, it's dead.
I'm wondering if the Voltage Regulator is fried open....has anyone had the same problems?
|
Electrical Problems w/ 89 420SEL
Just my thoughts, I am not a mechanic.
I was told not to jump off other vehicles with my MB mainly because of the cost to repair the electrical system should something short out (mainly the computer $6,000 for my S600 and $4,200 for my C36). Since it still runs it sounds likeit's not the computer. You may want to have the battery load tested to see if you burnt a cell out. If it's not your battery I would take it to your mechanic and let them check the voltage regulator for you.
John
|
