E300 D engine dies
 

My 97 E300d runs fine for a few miles and then the electronics start doing wierd things, the speed ometer stops engine light comes on and other instruments stop working HVAC shuts down then the engine dies. After waiting a few minutes it starts back up and everything fine. It may run 5 miles or 30 miles before doing this again. I checked the codes and seem to have something going on with "communication port problem" whatever that means! Also, the brake lining light started coming on and after replacing pads and rotors it still comes on? Can someone advise me on these problems.
