E-420 1997
 

To all, I have had this car since new - have driven 165000k miles mostly distance and have 2 chronic problems 1. ASR light comes on at start up, and I can shut off and on a few times and it goes away and runs fine. Throttle control has been replaced 2wice.

2. AC fan will not stay on, cycle high and low when ac is set on max, AC FAN motor has been replaced?

Any thoughts

Problem 1: most likely your stop light switch behind brake pedal is faulty. Less likely ASR sensors are dirty and they need to be cleaned up.

Problem 2: Fan relay is faulty. This is common problem with this medel year. Here is a link to some good information and how to DYI:
