E-320 Wagon spark plug change

I just got a recomendation to change my spark plugs. My E-320 wagon has 85,000 miles and runs great. Do I really need to change my plugs? I was quoted $240.00 for 12 platinum plugs. I think I can find the same plugs for less. But I was also quoted 3.5 hours of labor required to change the plugs. Is this for real? I think I can change the plugs myself by removing the coils off of both sides and replacing the plugs one at a time. However, how do you get the spark plug wire conectors off of the plugs? Is it really that involved?

never buy the cheap plugs. the engine will react to it.

you must change it.

cuse the 17mm open end wrench to assist you in pulling it off.

When is the recommended time to change the plugs, or should I wait until I feel the engine miss? Where do you buy your parts? Why does my dealer say it will take 3.5 hours to change these? Do you have the service manual's steps for this job?

100k km or 1 year...whichever comes first.

if you are saving money now and want to spend more in the future, then you can wait till the engine gets faulty.

maybe your dealer don't know how to change the splugs either. ASRA says it's only 1.2 hours. if they will spend 5 minutes unscrewing 1 spark plug and another 5 minutes to screw it in, that will come up to about two hours.

my grandmother can unscrew it in less than a minute. [:@]
