Doors not opening

Doors not opening
My dad is currently out of the counrty for some work and I will have to collect him from the airport in his mercedes C200. He also asked me to give the car a good clean inside out while he is away. I have never had any problems with the car but since yesterday pressing the button on the fob remote doesn't open the doors.
I have tried changing the batteries on the remote fob and also tried charging the actual car battery with another car. I can also not get into his car as the doors can only be opened with the remote. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get the car back to normal again.
Thanx in advance,

RE: Doors not opening
When you cleaned the car inside did you use any water on / near the door casings?
Not familiar with the C200 but isn't there a mechanical key for the door in addition to the remote key fob for this situation?

RE: Doors not opening
I have not actually cleaned the car yet, there is a key but not keyhole in the doors. I will now have to collect my dad from the airport today in my own car (Subaru Impreza) and pay £50 just for the petrol [:-]
If anyone else knows what could be the problem with the merc then please post it up

RE: Doors not opening
I have already tried that, my dad has come back and noticed that the car battery is totally flat. We are now trying to charge it using another car. Is there any sort of procedure to recode the remote or anything else?

RE: Doors not opening
unlike the bmw where you have to press lock and press unlock 3 times, mb is different.
the remote function of the key must be working.
lock door using remote-ulock door using remote-turn ignition to "on" position in 10 seconds and it's done.
was there any feedback light on the mirror on your car or door handle?
