2004 s430 4matic, I was driving home last night in a torrential rainfall and the command center flashed on and off, and it says everything is unavailable now, I reset the system and that did not work, is there anything I can do, or does a dealer have to correct this problem.

I don't know if the rainfall had anything to do with it, or even fully understand what your symptoms are.

If the thing went completely dead, then check the fuses. I don't know your car, but on a 03 C32, there's a number of fuses that could be the issue. On my kid's C32, we found the fuses on the fuse chart all good, but then discovered the fuse behind and in the COMMAND unit blew. Traced it down to the in-glovebox CD changer. Found one at a decent price, installed it, and stopped blowing fuses. All is well now.

For removing it, I found instructions at a different site and those directions were specifically for a w203 car with Command.

The first time I removed the Command unit, it took about 20 minutes or so learning how to do it. The last time I did it, I had it out, fuse replaced, and back together in less than 2 minutes.

 

I am still having the same problem on my S350L . There was a heavy rain and thunder and the lots of flashes on the screen. After that I cannot switch on or off the unit. It comes on when it decides to come on and it goes off after which. The error was that the flash was damage and it was trying to reformat the flash. Technically this would mean a simple reformat using a uncorrupted CD to reload the flash memory or if it fails change the flash memory
I visited the Cycle and Carriage ( Alexandra ) in Singapore who told me that to fix it will cost about UDS 10,000 to get a replacement of the unit and they did not know how to fix it . It is less than 5 years old and the entire car is wothe about USD 6,000.00 . The car was purchase brand new for about USD 250,000.

They open up the unit and tested told me that they cannot fix it . They also charge me for fixing it back and ran a test which also failed but charge me for the test to put it back but could not verify if it works. So, they failed in their work and charge me USD 110.00.

I am not sure what is the next step as Cycle and carriage keeps quiet and Mercedes has no comment.
