CLK55 AMG tire suggestion wanted

Any experiience out there (good or bad) regarding tires replacement for a 55AMG? I am thinking of replacing the Continales with Goodyear Eagle F1's. Thoughts?

Continentals contact Sport 2 MO are dependable as they are tested on Mercedes. Michelin Sports 2 are the best all rounder and Bridgestone Potenza RE050 are the best in the wet. I've used them all. But i think the Continetals suit the Merc best for ride. Ones i used are 245/35ZR19 for the fronts and 275/30ZR19 for the back.

Michelin Pilot Sport 2's are the way to go. They cost but you wont regret it. 2nd would be Bridgestone Potenza's. Conti's are ok, they come standard on many Mercs but tend get very noisy as they wear.

I have Pilot Sport 2's as well, and ride is good and handling is very confidence inspiring. Quite surprised at the straight line traction as well.

Well, I don't care for the Pirellis. The asymetrics and the p-zeros are ok if you race the car on the track , then change tires, or have a Ferrari that you only take out a few times a year, but for the daily road they are terrible. I used to change tires three times a year, and that's silly to me. They would make this whining noise about halfway into the tread. I also rolled a p600 completely off the rim in a turn one time back in the '80s.

I'm currently using the Michelin Pilot A/S which get great treadwear, but i'm an old goat now and barely drive over the speed limit. If you are performance driving, you will need a softer tire than me.

Have Goodyear F1's on my 2001 E430, would not recommend... have about 10K miles on them and the appear to be wearing well for W rated tires but very noisy and the car does handle well on dry pavement but get two drops of rain on the road and forget about it no way to run over about 55 on the interstate if it starts raining or the rear end starts to get squirly..... has to be a better balance of dry handling and wet performance out there.....
