Default clk430 please help!

Hello, I think I have exhausted all the options I can think of.

My 2000 CLK430 (out of warranty)has the following problems.
1 Reduced power in the mornings after sitting all night for the first ten minutes, feels like bad spark or no fuel.
2. At hard acceleration within these ten minutes trips code on check engine, reads as #4 and #7 faulty.
3. LAzy acceleration when warm.
4. I have been having problems with it recognizing the key, batteries are new in key, starter engages an stops after one rotation.

I already changed all plugs. I rotated the coil packs to see if they were bad, and it always trips #4 & #7.
Changed MAS
Replaced EGR valve.
Went to dealer they are stumped and said all they could do is to continue replacing all the parts at my expense until they magically find the solution.

Thank You In advance for any suggestions.

They probably know or have a great idea where the problem is but why tell you if you don't know and if they can get a few extra hundred bucks out of ya in the process?

For number four, it could be a problem that's on the car itself and not the key. And if it's like what I think it is... well lets say that type of repair is even pretty pricey on the Ford Taurus.

Your best bet right now, is to one wait until Sleepwalker replies to your post or two email him. He'll probably know exactly what's wrong without charging you two arms and a leg.

Hi,

Since you have already done some of the usual "tricks" its time to get some hard data.

Get the dealer or shop to read the On Board Diagnostics (OBD) IN FULL and give you a computer print out without committing you to correct the problem....at least till you (and they) know what sort of issues they are looking at. They will charge for this process but Mercedes parts are very expensive and its all too easy to change parts unnecessarily.

Is the Check Engine light ON?
What codes are showing. I would expect to see codes like P0170 or similar. Maybe several codes.
What conditions were prevaling when the light was illuminated? This info is also in the OBD.
Vehicle mileage? Vehicle history. Have you owned the vehicle for some time or just bought it with the problem etc. Service history. eg. Last service. When were plugs changed etc.

Just in case you are impatient to change something else and spend your hard earned cash I'd hazard a guess at the Crank Sensor but getting the correct codes will tell you this with confidence.

Post the results from the OBD scan and I will provide followup.

Stuart
