I'm condsidering purchasing an '01 CL 500. The dealers are telling me that something needs to be reset by the dealer following oil changes or a lignt or something will keep flashing. Is this true and, if so, how is this accomplished by the do-it-yourselfer? I would also appreciate any other info regarding working on this car myself and where to obtain shop manuals, etc. Many thanks.

Recent Mercedes models use maintenance schedules known as FSS (Flexible Service System). This needs to be re-set at a shop after completion of a service. You can DIY, if you purchase a re-set tool (the one for the MClass can be had for about $200).

Good luck!
