Can I swap ECU & EIS from stripped car to a 1997 E280?
 

Hello guys. I have a 1997 Mercedes Benz E280 which developed an ignition problem and I was told by the Mercedes dealer that the only way to fix this was to replace the whole ignition system at a cost of US$2500. Another mechanic told me that if I find a similar car I can harvest its ECU, ignition system and keys and put them on my car and I will be ready to go which spunds like a great deal because online these second hand parts cost in the region of $350. i wanted to know if this is technically and mechanically possible to harvest the ECU, EIS & keys from one car and fit them on an identical car.
