Good day all

I am looking after a friend of mine's whites Merc c220 1994.

1. Recently it started doing two things that is not good. The car started using immense amounts of coolant, so i checked to see if it leaks somewhere. it does, but all the pipes seem intact. When I let it run for a while, it starts spraying fine coolant from the middle front behind the belt. When I switch it off, the coolant suddenly runs out to the left, dripping vigorously from the belt at where it crosses the alternator. I cannot find the origin.

2. At about the same time, the engine picked up a whining sound which gets loud when I turn the steering wheel.

This vehicle is in a great condition, and my friend will be returning from Germany soon. Can anyone please guide me to where the problem may lie, or where the leak originates from?

I am not a wealthy person, so this is my only way to be able to find a solution.
