C 280 Avantgarde- door knobs-immobilizer
 

I just bought a 2007 C280 Avantgarde. Very pleased with this car but have the following issues:
(1) the door lock knobs never retreat fully into the door-sill when locked- they remain about 1 inch high. This suggests that the car is unlocked and invites unwanted attention form thieves. Is this a feature of these C class Mercedes?

(2) Altho' the manual tells me that upon locking the car I should get 3 light flashes, 3 acoustic beeps and the internal dashboard red-light should commence flashing to indicate the immobilzer is working, I only get 3 light flashes, no beeps or red flashes. Is this common? Can I rely on the 3 light flashes to confirm the anti-theft device is working?
