blown m130 in my '69 280 SE cab - now what
I've spun a bearing and damaged the crank on my beloved 1969 triple black 280SE cab. What do members recommend I do? Rebuild - many say that it is virtually impossible for most local shops to turn the crank and refit bearings reliably. By a $5000 rebuilt from one of a couple nationally know rebuilders? Put in a salvage engine, but from where? How about upgrading to a 3.5, or more likely, a 4.5 V8? Or how about a technological update to a 103 or 104 I6 with late model trans? Or toss all convention out the window and drop in a Chevy V8? (The car, while cosmetically very, very good, has had the underbody patched in the usual spots, so it will never be a concours car - just a real fine driver...) All help, advice , and referrals appreciated. I want the car back on the road soon...

Nevertheless,
in my opinion any "technological update" or upgrade to 3.5/4.5 etc. would be a change in style.
I´m not sure, if there would be enough place for the bigger V8-transmission in the transmission tunnel of Your 111.025.
Furthermore You would need many many other devices, like for example brake-system, axlex and so on....
What exactly is the damage on the crank beside the broken bearing(s)?
A good engine restorer (is that the correct term) could rebuild it of course.
Is there none in Your area?
Did You already contact the MB Classic Center ?
